Ms. Thurman received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from California State University, Stanislaus. She went on to earn her Master of Arts degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Brandman University.
Ms. Thurman has several years of experience working with various populations, severity levels, and in multiple clinical settings. She has experience working with persons struggling with chronic mental illness, community emergency response and crisis evaluations, foster youth and child welfare, forensics, and outpatient therapeutic services for both youth and adults.
Ms. Thurman's passion is working with youth, adolescents, and adults with trauma related disorders (PSTD and complex trauma); she utilizes trauma focused therapies such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (T-CBT). She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in conjunction with trauma focused approaches. Ms. Thurman also has extensive experience treating those with personality disorders, substances use disorder, depressive disorder, and anxiety disorders. She has also worked with those who have a secondary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
